Hey brainly,

You can plug a microphone directly into the Xbox, and it will record your voice along with the gameplay. The problem I was running into is that it puts the voice and gameplay audio on the same track. Which in turn makes editing much more difficult.

Thanks for the comment!

Not to mention that it picks up right where you left off! But it’s been driving me crazy that I have not been able to capture more than one minute of gameplay (something my PS5 does!). Well, now I know, and it won’t cost me an arm and a leg.

Hey Omar, my go-to drive is the Samsung – T7 1TB External USB 3.2 Gen 2 Portable SSD. This drive covers all the bases, great for gaming, and its not too expensive for the storage you’re getting! If you have access to USB-C this SSD is super fast.

I use the WD EasyStore 1TB External Hard Drive to store video and images since that’s all it needs to do, but I wouldn’t play games from it.

I hope this helps, and thanks for the comment!

hey hunter quick question, I want to record clips too but you were also talking about external hard driving for recording and ssd for games. Do you happen to know a good product for both or in general?

Hey Jay,

Glad to hear it works on the Series S, and I agree that the 1-minute limit is a bit much!

Thank you for the comment, and happy to help!

Hey Candace,

If all the USB plugs recognize the hard drive then it’s something with the software, not the hardware. No worries if the console is an X or S, both will apply when resolving the issue.

I wouldn’t about the save for the game as the Xbox constantly uploads game saves to the cloud so that it can be used on PC, Xbox, and even cloud streaming games! I’m consistently impressed how my game saves are magically where I need them when I launch a game from different devices.

If the drive is suddenly too slow after multiple reformats it might be worth replacing the drive as it seems unstable. If it does start working again definitely store the recordings outside the drive and just use to it move the recordings to a different storage device to lower the risk of losing anything.

I hope everything works out, glad to be of help!

hi…. thanks for your reply. first of all, i want to say that i inadvertently said mine was a series X. it’s an S. i was posting the comment from my phone and didn’t realize i’d made that mistake.

anyway, the multiple formats i mentioned were to the USB drive. i’ve not yet tried formatting the console, for fear of losing the progress in one of the games i’ve downloaded. i guess i’ll just have to bite the bullet and try it.

i’ve had the console itself for just days past a year. so another worry is that Support won’t work with me because it may be out of warranty or whatever. as for the USB plugs, they all RECOGNIZE the drive. every time i plug it in, i get a message that mentions the specific drive i have is ready for recording. however, unlike in months past, when i UNplug it, it doesn’t tell me that the drive has been removed. and of course, when i try to switch recording TO that drive, it’s telling me it’s too slow, and that i need to use a faster one.

i guess i’ll give a try to reformatting the console itself and see where that goes. thank you for your reply!
