    Is the Pathless Amazing?

The Pathless is a really solid idea wrapped around a fascinating gameplay mechanic.

Integrating a bow and an eagle as a core to the entire experience works surprisingly well.

Overall, the entire idea works fluidly and I am going to look at what makes The Pathless such an interesting game.

    The Pathless at a Glance

Let’s grab our bows, pet our eagles, and glide into The Pathless to see if it’s cut to be amazing.

An Eagle, Bow and a Silent Main Character Versus the World

Hunter Armada and The Pathless Raining
Sometimes when it rains, it pours over into the facecam

The first thing worth pointing out is just how awesome the game looks. It has a beautiful art style that shines through every inch of the open-world.

From the main character–who is silent and nameless, but is referred to as the Hunter–to the eagle, everything has this sense of belonging to match the story happening around you.

The gameplay for The Pathless is pretty simple, you have a bow and you shoot things; not very complicated. The fun comes in when you have to manage this while also fighting the big bosses that roam the world.

    Chasing the Cernos Boss
See the key is to run faster, then even faster so you can catch up!

Three main bosses roam around the world and the cool part is that they can sneak up on you at any time.

If you’re not paying attention then you get taken into a world on fire and have to safely hide to survive and get out.

The eagle gets torn away and you need to save it, all while finding the means to defeat the giant boss.

Two Steps to Surviving The Pathless Bosses
It boils down to survive and survive more when you get into these encounters

From here you need to avoid the boss’s spotlight and make your way to the eagle safely. You can see this in action at 18:20 of the video.

The Many Dots of the Open World
These floating dots are scattered all around the world just waiting to be hit by that perfect arrow

Going back a bit at 1:12 I explain how the movement in the open-world works.

It boils down to holding the trigger until a circle fills up. This means you have the perfect aim to hit whatever you’re aiming at.

There are a bunch of dots scattered around the map and you need to shoot them with your bow to help you move faster.

Using this is cool as you propel yourself faster and faster to traverse the world and even solve the many puzzles hidden.

Looking at 2:00 of the video we see a chase sequence going after the first boss of the game Cernos.

    Cernos Boss Fight
This is the first real fight of the game and it doesn’t disappoint on the epic scale

This is a pretty cool fight sequence involving a chase that ultimately turns into a big, climactic fight. It includes some fun timings to avoid attacks, utilizing the flaps from the eagle, and mastering the bow strikes to form a play experience that truly keeps you on your toes.

Once you take down the bosses the next part of the map opens up and we’re free to roam a new section of the open-world!

The Open World of The Pathless

    The Pathless Open World
The world is gigantic and is filled to the brim with many puzzles to solve

The open-world is the name of the game in The Pathless and it is where you’re going to be spending the most time throughout the journey.

From here you’ll use speed, bow skills, smarts, and of course the eagle to solve the many puzzles scattered around the world.

    Fire Puzzle in The Pathless
Some of the puzzles aren’t that difficult but there still fun nonetheless

To give an example, at 11:39 of the video I run into a pillar of fire with a few pillars behind that are not lit up.

The trick is to fire an arrow at the right angle to have it bounce the flame to the other pillars so all can catch fire.

Once that’s completed, you’re rewarded with an icon that you can use to open up the many towers around the world. I’m sure that sounds very familiar to all of my Breath of the Wild players.

Hunter Armada Doesn’t Have Enough Icons
That depressing moment when you realized you’ve messed up

At 17:51 I discover that I do not have enough to unlock and free the tower, but that’s okay! The basic point is to go around solving puzzles to clear towers and then eventually take down the boss.

Once all the towers in the area are ready, you can take on the boss just like we saw earlier.

    Is The Pathless Amazing?

Hunter Armada Giving Final Gameplay Thoughts on The Pathless
A game worth experiencing, it’s just so much fun!

The Pathless is a fun time from the gameplay to the world and everything in between.

No one can deny how much fun it is to roam around, take in the scenery, and relax with your eagle buddy when the opportunity arises.

Take all that into an interesting story worth seeing to the end. Solid boss fights, crazy intense stealth moments, and more add up to be something worth playing.

I enjoyed my time with The Pathless and this is one journey I’ll remember for a while!

Is the Resident Evil 8 Village Maiden Demo Amazing?

Resident Evil 8 Village Maiden Demo does a lot in just 20 minutes. Taking you through a haunted dungeon and mansion with tons of scares to be had.

I’m really glad that Capcom made a demo, or as they call it, a Visual Showcase.

Reminds me of the time when demo disks were aplenty and everyone could get a sneak peek of what was coming soon!

Resident Evil 8 Village Maiden Demo at a Glance

Let’s take out our fake vampire fangs and escape this creepy place together!

So what exactly is Resident Evil 8 Village Maiden Demo?

Resident Evil 8: Village? Maiden? Demo?
Yeah, the title of this demo confused me like no other

I’ll be the first to admit the naming convention for this is all over the place, but the demo just called the entire thing: Maiden.

So I guess that works but it’s still a Resident Evil 8 Village demo, they just tacked on a fancy name at the end.

It’s confusing but it gets the job done if you take a step back to view from a distance.

    Hunter Armada and a Calendar
I haven’t played a demo in an extremely long time, Maiden feels so fresh!

After taking a bit to get my bearings, the first thing that strikes me is that I’m playing a demo.

Now, demo’s used to be these incredible little views into what the entire game would be like. Pretty much just cut out sections from the finished game to act as a hands-on preview.

    Hunter Armada and Blasto
I’d say the Blasto demo was far better than the final game

At 18:20 I bring up Blasto, which had a better demo than the full game could ever hope to be.

Demo’s used to come on disks and have around 6 demos for you to enjoy and experience before the games came out.

They were always fun to look forward to and got you excited for a game that wouldn’t be out for months.

Demo’s slowly changed to being more like experiences rather than slices from a full game.

Engaging and bringing you into the world you’re soon going to experience; this is what the Maiden demo does so well!

Let’s Take a Walk Through a Dungeon and Explore the Gameplay

Resident Evil 8: Village Maiden Title Card
    Ah, yes. Very inviting.

I came in fresh, blind, and doe-eyed into this demo. I refused to look at any sneak-peeks or other media sources because I wanted my first experience to truly be my first experience of what the future of the Resident Evil series holds.

I can easily say I wasn’t disappointed. This game is going to be fantastic, even without much gameplay to go off of.

The entire experience boils down to a walking simulator–and a very pretty one, might I add.

Going from a dark dungeon with dead bodies, a screaming unknown behind a wooden door, and solving a quick puzzle is scarier than it should be.

    Remembering PT
This entire game reminded me a lot of PT

Taking the overall experience into account, it did remind me a lot of PT, basically walking to the end to solve a few puzzles.

But the trip is worth it as the game provides a pleasant look to the eyes with enough ambiance despite the scare factor.

The game harkens back to Resident Evil Biohazard in terms of scope and gameplay, which is the new approach the series has taken.

    Resident Evil Biohazard Boxart
It’s the same game in a new area judging from the demo, which isn’t a bad thing

Once you get through the dungeon the game does show a bit more of the cards in its hand while you traverse the new mansion!

    Lady Dimitrescu’s Mansion

Lady Dimitrescus about to stab Hunter Armada
I have many conflicting emotions at this moment but by god is she tall and awesome

Lady Dimitrescu steals the entire show and gives the demo an amazing ending.

One second you’re running away from a random vampire, the next the Tall Lady is about to stab you in the face!

It’s a nice change of pace from the opening, basically from zero to one hundred in 20 minutes.

Hunter Armada about to be Vampire Food
Everything wants you dead and that’s just perfect

The demo is perfectly paced and a ton of fun as you solve some puzzles while on the edge of your seat the entire time.

The mansion is just stunning and shows the true power of the PS5, which never ceases to be super impressive.

    Maiden Demo Mansion
It just looks so good in all that 4K glory!

All in all, the demo looks incredible and it lives up to its promise of being an awesome Visual Showcase.

Hunter Armada Giving Final Gameplay Thoughts on the Maiden Demo
    A Visual Showcase to remember

The Resident Evil Village Maiden Demo does what it sets out to do in a nice 20-minute timeframe.

It got me super interested in the world and it showed a bit of gameplay while still staying the classic Resident Evil framework. Roll that into the fact that it feels like it was made to be part of the next-gen line of consoles.

I had a ton of fun playing this and I can’t wait for the full game to see more!

  • Is Maneater Amazing?

    Is Maneater Amazing?

    Is Maneater Amazing?

Maneater takes the dream of being a shark and turns it into a TV reality show starring you!

The entire game is framed around this nostalgic late 90’s early 2000’s tone, featuring an exuberant announcer and lots of ocean fare trivia.

Playing Maneater is one of the worst ways to learn about aquatic life, mainly because it takes a lot of patience to sit through its terrible humor. There are some cringe moments.

Zipping through the ocean as an unstoppable killing machine should be a good time, but the game does everything it can to try and stop you. While adding challenge into the gameplay makes most games exciting, the attributes in Maneater just feel like annoying hindrances.

    Maneater Video Time Stamps

    Maneater at a Glance

Let’s dive into the action, kill some humans and see if Maneater is amazing.

    Maneater’s Gameplay

    Shark Eating a Catfish
In the vast ocean it is eat or be eaten

At Maneater’s core, the intent is to eat everything in sight… and then go eat some more!

In the span of this video, I did several quests and they all boiled down to going to a location and eating a certain amount of prey (consisting of both fish and humans).

    Maneater Mission Selection Map
You’re going to see this mission objective a lot, with some fancy new wording

There is little to no variety in Maneater, unfortunately. You have seen the game in its entirety within just the first 15 minutes of playing.

Sure, you can upgrade your shark, but the sense of progression is fairly bareboned when you pull back the mechanics and overall scope.

The shark has a tailwhip that you can use to whack fish into each other, as well as stun to get some extra damage in.

    Shark Tailwhip
The tail whip is fun to slap fish around with!

Adding onto this, you also have a dodge movement to get out of any tight encounters,  which I find pretty fascinating for a shark.

    Shark and Hunter Armada Dodging
The shark can dodge and I find that incredible

To take it one step further, you have access to Sonar. This allows you to see mission objectives and what kind of prey is in the vicinity.

    Shark Sonar
Gotta make sure you’re seeing the full picture in the vast ocean

The teeth of the shark are your main weapons for the journey but it boils down to smashing the trigger until you win.

Sure, you can dodge and get fancy but there’s no real point when you just chomp everything until the health bar goes down. The humans don’t put up much of a fight. Just make sure to watch your oxygen meter when going up on land.

    Maneater Shark Oxygen Meter
Once the oxygen meter is gone it’s time to dive back into the depths

After eating a bunch of humans your wanted meter goes up. That’s when the hunters come to try and take you down.

    Hunter Vs. Hunter
Once there off the jetski you just smash the trigger until dead!

At 10:40 we see Bayou Willy attack, but he thankfully isn’t much of a challenge.

It boils down to knocking him off his jetski and then chomp him until you win.

    Eating Bayou Willy
Once there off the jetski you just smash the trigger until dead!

As you take down the hunters and level up, you get more powers for your shark.

For example, at 11:01 I get Bioelectric Teeth for taking down Bayou Willy, which can then be upgraded at the grotto.

    Leveling Up the Shark
There is a lot of upgrading resources and it’s just too much in my opinion

To wrap up the gameplay aspect of things–going to 22:55 as a reference–we enter the Grotto and look into how to upgrade the shark.

There is a lot to see in the Evolutions section. Upgrades ranging from the Jaw to even the internal organs of the shark.

This all comes together for you to make a shark all your own as well as a total killing machine.

The issue comes in with all the currency. You get currency by killing fish and humans, which makes sense. But the amount you get from eating isn’t enough and the upgrades feel hollow in terms of what they add on from the initial upgrade.

In the video, I give my shark electric teeth which are cool but the upgrade on top of it isn’t anything special, especially when you look at the amount it costs.

Now, to be fair, you can get the entire electric set to get a major buff.

It’s a TV Show From the Early 2000s That You Get to Play!

Maneater wears its style like a badge of honor.

    Bayou Willy
The entire game is framed like a TV show

The entire game is framed like a TV show that would air during Shark Week and I think that’s pretty cool.

The announcer is full of interesting fish facts and gives a clear insight into what you need to do during the missions.

The biggest part that causes this all to come crashing down to earth in a glorious fireball is the writing.

It’s just so bad and I’m not going to mince words or hide it, I don’t like the writing in Maneater whatsoever.

It strives too hard to be funny and sadly falls short. It should tow that line of cleverness and cringe but it just goes fully into unbearable levels. Even dad jokes are more bearable.

Every time the announcer deviates from fish facts it makes me just groan and consider muting the dialog entirely.

    Hunter Armada is not impressed
This is the face I make every time the game thinks it’s being funny

The entire game feels like it’s trying way too hard to be funny, rather than focus on solid gameplay and interesting mission variety.

It wants you so badly to like the jokes to distract from the fact that the quests are monotonous and overly repetitive.

I can’t stress enough that playing the first 15 minutes is the entire game. If that sounds enjoyable then you’re going to have a great time!

But good luck getting through the jokes. Maybe you are stronger than I am,  but I just can’t look past it.

    Pro Tip with Hunter Armada

    Pro Tip with Hunter Armada
Ahh a face you can trust!

Before we wrap this up let’s take a moment for a Hunter Armada Pro Tip to help you leave with something useful!

At 9:30 I get hit with the most intense Snack Attack you’ve ever seen!

Only one thing can quench this Snack need and that’s pretzels!

One thing I like to do so I can eat and play video games is to eat shovable food with a cup.

Hunter Armada Pro Tip Eating Pretzels in a Cup
I’m a big fan of not eating food with my hands while gaming

Grabbing a cup, filling it with any food you want, and then simply drinking that food keeps your hands clean and your gaming gear in tip-top shape!

    I hope you learned something!

    Is Maneater Amazing?

Hunter Armada Giving Final Gameplay Thoughts on Maneater
Even playing as a badass shark isn’t enough to make Maneater worth your time

Maneater is a game where you play as a shark in the frame of a terrible TV show fit to air during Shark Week.

The humor isn’t funny, the mission design is boring/repetitive, and uninteresting.

Changing the location to do the same thing over and over isn’t enough to make Maneater fun, no matter how badly the game wants you to laugh at its jokes.

The gameplay is boilerplate and doesn’t make being a shark as fun as one would hope for it to be.

I’m glad I gave Maneater a shot but I’m ready for this TV show to be canceled.

  • GodFall Makes Being a God Boring (That’s Impressive)

GodFall Makes Being a God Boring (That’s Impressive)

SO BORED I FELL ASLEEP PLAYING | GodFall Gameplay [PS5]

GodFall was the game that let us know that the PlayStation 5 was coming.

It was the showcase that revealed the graphical powerhouse fans could look forward to.

The announcement blew me away with its crazy good graphics and interesting premise. It came across as something like Borderlands but with melee weapons.

Unfortunately, that’s all it brought to the table. Once you sit down and play for 10 minutes, you’ve seen everything.

To make things worse, those 10 minutes will feel like hours due to just how incredibly boring GodFall is.

    GodFall TimeStamps

Grab your favorite blankie and try not to fall asleep as I lead you through this snoozefest.

Wakey Wakey It’s Time to Play

    Hunter Armada Dreaming of Sheep
Please don’t wake me, I’m dreaming over here

After a nice nap, I awoke to play some GodFall, unfortunately, this game is not fun, but I’m a trooper. Let’s get into it!

Right off the bat, GodFall is an amazing looking game! From the weapons to the armor, everything gleams gold.

    This Guy Looks good
How can someone this cool looking be in something so bad?

You can stand anywhere in the game and take a screenshot for an awesome background image. No matter what picture you take, it is going to look great, there is no denying that.

The main issue is that the gameplay loop fails to be fun or engaging. The story is lame and not noteworthy, I can’t even be bothered to write a synopsis because it falls flat.

It is a shame that such a beautifully designed game comes up so short when it comes to substance. Some pictures are pretty to look at, but if there isn’t anything to grasp the eye, then a viewer will quickly move on to the next piece.

At the end of the day, it feels like an MMO with a bunch of fetch quests that you get to suffer through.

From my playtime, I unlocked one new Valor Plate for Phoenix, and honestly, the only change is the voice actor.

    GodFall Valor Plate Screen
Would you look at all that stuff

Even achieving the gathering loot aspect of the game doesn’t add enough spice to keep a player engaged.

You get weapons so fast and so frequently that you are unable to enjoy a weapon to its full potential before finding something new.

The biggest issue is that the inventory screen isn’t fast either, making weapon switches a drag. It takes a second to pop in, and when you’re opening it every five minutes to test out a new find, it adds up.

What I ended up doing was completing a whole level, then changing out gear back at the home base. It was the only way I could keep track of everything without losing my mind.

But enough about this! Let’s get to the gameplay by jumping into a story mission in the Alluvial Plains!

Defeating High Lord Phalanxar in the Alluvial Plains

    High Lord Phalanxar
All you need to know is that the High Lord needs to be killed, that’s it

We get an intro to the boss of this mission. He is intimidating and he lets you know it; standing there scarily, staring you down with a hammer bigger than life itself.

No dialog, no reason to go after the enemy, just a screen with him standing still with a fierce gaze.

Now we’re back in the game. I do have to give credit that the game loads extremely fast. That’s always a positive in my book, but it isn’t enough to make up for the rest of its flaws.

We enter the Alluvial Plains and get into the action, the game has a waypoint but no minimap. The idea is to just run to the waypoint and traverse the map however you can.

GodFall also likes to put time limits on certain objectives for extra bonuses which can be a pain when you inevitably get lost.

Running headfirst into combat, we take down some of the enemies. The combat is the best and most fun part of the game, as I feel it should be.
It reminds me a lot of God of War’s combat with the shield and weapon variety.

You can throw your shield but even that’s hampered with an annoying cooldown, forcing you to wait before throwing it again.

Plus, when you get down to it, the weapons are there for show and increasing a number.

No matter if you use a big sword, dual swords, or even a spear, they all play the same so you can’t mix and match.

This doesn’t create any unique playstyle or overbearing, long-term fun. It is just using the weapon with the biggest number and spamming light as well as heavy to win.

    GodFall Combat
It looks fun! But it’s not

I ram through this first group of enemies with my trusty spear,

Once the encounter is over, that’s it.

That’s the entire game in a nutshell. If you want to go do this for another 20-30 plus hours then GodFall is the game for you!

If not, then just finish watching my video and reading this write-up to feel content knowing everything GodFall brings to the table.

Sure there’s little side stuff to do, Valor Plates to unlock, yadda yadda, but if the core of the game isn’t fun then why would I want to go out of my way for other parts?

Throughout the fights, we pick up some loot and get straight to High Lord Phalanxar.

    Fighting High Lord Phalanxar
    BRING IT ON

The fight is the same as any other in the game: lacking flavor.

There’s no mid-fight check to make him harder, no added personality to make it feel different from other bosses, and just no spice overall. It’s just a hack and slash until you win.

Even then that’s not enough. The only addition they put in is him running away mid-battle for us to chase. It just comes across as such a lackluster mechanic compared to almost any other boss battle in any other game.

After a quick jog (I don’t even like being forced to run in video games), we meet up once again to finish this.

    Intense GodFall Fight
I’m having more fun watching the camera fly around than I am playing GodFall

Same fight as before; nothing changed except the location, and even that doesn’t matter.

After attacking High Lord Phalanxar we take him down, I level up, and then gather our loot!

    GodFall Level 11 and Loot
I do like color-coded loot and leveling up, big fan

Cleaning Up the World of GodFall

After completing the mission I decide to hang around for a minute to show off some of the gameplay GodFall has to offer.

This is essentially just running around the map a bit and showing off some of the other enemies residing in the level.

We take on a couple of fights, move around a bit, and I can’t help but bring up other good games that GodFall is up against.

Every Games Amazing Video Thumbnails Showcase
Miles, Sackboy, and Astro are much better games, go play them!

It’s a real shame that this doesn’t even come close to being in the same league as any of the three launch games listed above.

I didn’t want to make a video with an opinion I don’t stand behind, so I forced myself to play this for a few hours and I’m still upset.

Everything should work as it sets itself up for success: the era in which the game takes place is fun, the graphics are a true visual showpiece, and the combat isn’t awful. Yet the game falls flat as the weak structure of the story is not enough to hold up the positives.

    The Many Menus of GodFall

One thing that GodFall does have going for it is its many menus.

    GodFall Equipment Menu
This is the hub of menus, where you can get everywhere easily

From here you can see a clear breakdown of a bunch of menus that you can hop into.

    GodFall Weapons Screen
That’s a big colorful list of weapons alright

Starting with the weapons menu, you can see that we have the general assortment of Green, Blue, and Purple to help see at a glance how powerful these weapons are.

Generally, all you need to know is that if the numbers are bigger then you should use them. Don’t even think about playstyle, just use what does the most damage.

Then you can take this to all the other “Gear” in the game. Nothing you change is reflected on the character; it just makes a number go up.

The only things that you can change and see are the weapons as well as the Valor Plates.

Everything else just boils down to a singular number to make it as big as possible.

    GodFall Skills Screen
There’s a lot of skills to unlock but very few feel meaningful

Looking over some skills to unlock it boils down to another: what numbers do you want to go up.

I purchase some new skills and we can call this an episode.

    Is GodFall Amazing?

unter Armada Giving Final Gameplay Thoughts on GodFall
GodFall is boring and I don’t like it

GodFall is far from the game that I hoped it would be. It sucks to say, but GodFall is a big thorn in the PlayStation 5 launch lineup.

After playing a ton of amazing games, playing GodFall feels like a game that would have been acceptable way back when.

No matter how good the graphics are they can’t hide the stale gameplay, joyless combat, and trivial story.

It all adds up to a game that isn’t worth anyone’s time in my opinion.

Bugsnax Is Weird, Plain, and Simple (Bunger? Bunger!)

AHHHHHH (Bunger Bunger Bunger) | Bugsnax Gameplay [PS5]

Bugsnax is a weird game, no point in sugar-coating it, but that is what makes it such a special game.

There’s no combat due to Bugsnax being a puzzle game… a truly bizarre one at that.

You run around an island and collect the many creatures that inhabit it while also feeding the residents.

I mentioned that the game is a weird one and here is where that comes into play. But I’ll dig deep into that explanation later.

    Bugsnax Time Stamps

Let’s gather our nets and run into the great unknown as we catch some Bugsnaxs!

    Welcome to Bugsnaxs

    Hunter Armada and Strawberry
    Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Welcome to Bugsnax! Please take a seat, relax, and get comfortable. It’s a big world out there.

This game is weird, like really weird, like so weird that you have to play it to fully understand.

But otherwise, it’s a good solid puzzle game wrapped up tight in a time loop.

You run around a big island, make friends and capture the wildlife to feed it to people.

On paper this sounds pretty standard, but… the residents are a little too eager to start eating.

This is just the start, let’s dive right in by interviewing the residents and see if we can get to the bottom of this place.

    Interviewing Gramble

    Bugsnax Interview
When you interview residents it’s time to get serious

The interviewing aspect of the game is pretty straight forward; you just go down a checklist of interview questions.

It boils down to just picking an option and exhausting the rest of the list. Certain questions open up new dialog options, but it’s all linear.

The real fun comes from the interview! The character’s answers reveal insight into who they are and their various thoughts on the world.

The key draw is that each person has likes and dislikes about everyone else within Bugsnax.

After each interview, you usually get an item to move the story forward but I couldn’t figure out where to use the key that Gramble gave me.

    Exploring the Town of Snaxburg

After the interview process, I take a bit to explore the town of Snaxburg.

It is a fairly big town that expands as you progress through the game. This happens as you bring back residents and various bugsnaxs.

    Town of Snaxburg
It’s a big town for you to fill with your friends!

You can scan all the people within the world to see what their interests are and even the nature of their relationships with other characters.

The world runs off a day and night system which entails a live clock. With this, certain bugsnaxs come out only at specific times.

    Bugsnax Guidebook
This book will keep track of your adventure

You can keep track of all the Bugsnax you collected, a map of the world, every character, your items, and even all your tools in a handy-dandy notebook.

It’s nice to have everything available all in one place to help keep you on track towards your goal in the Bugsnax world.

We run over to Gramble to get a side quest where you can donate Bugsnax to help expand your carrying space.

With that, let’s run into the Scorched Gorge and start catching some Bugsnax!

It Gets Weird in Scorched Gorge

    Entering the Scorched Gorge
This isn’t the weird part but keeps reading cause it’s coming

Here we run into our first Bugsnax as well as our first puzzle! This involves a scorpion and… popcorn kernels? Yes, you read that right.

The idea is that you can’t catch popcorn kernels because they’re too small for your trap.

What do you do with popcorn kernels and a scorpion made out of the fire? Well, you anger the scorpion who will shoot fireballs to light you on fire.

When on fire, you run over the kernels to make them pop. Once popped, they can be caught.

    Lit on Fire
I wasn’t joking when I said you have to be lit on fire to solve this puzzle

I know that was a lot but that’s just the start of this insanity trip.

Next up is Spuddy, which is a rock and a baked potato. I fail to catch it, but man do I piss it off.

I run into Triffany (Yes, that is her name) and try to get her back to Snaxburg; the problem is that she needs help with her skeletons.

Before we move on, this is a good showcase of the 3D Pulse Headset that you can read more about by clicking here!

The audio is so well done and everything sounds amazing for every aspect of the game. This feature truly adds to the immersion in a great way!

I can’t find what she wants in this video but I’m working on it in my playthrough.

Pressing onward, we meet Cromdo the shifty salesman to get a new tool to help catch Bugsnax with the lunchpad (Puns, so many puns).

After a few failed attempts, I discover that you have to mix it with the buggy ball, and soon after it is all mine.
Cromdo wants 3 cheepoofs for payment for the lunchpad.

    Bunger Bunger Bunger Bunger
    Bunger Bunger Bunger Bunger

I run into (my favorite Bugsnax) Bunger as I am catching the cheepoofs!

I love Bunger. He is the best part of the entire game and I won’t hear otherwise.

After a bunch of fails, I eventually get all 3 and we move onward to the weirdest part of the entire game.

    Warning It Gets Weird
This warning is here for a reason, I’m not joking

So this is the part I’ve been avoiding this entire time, the main draw of the game.

The critters you collect are all food which you then feed to the residents on the island.

Sounds reasonable enough until you start the feeding frenzy.

Depending on the Bugsnax you choose, the resident’s chosen body part will change to that animal in question.

Feeding Cromdo three Cheepoofs turns him into the picture below… I can’t make this up.

    Cromdo and Cheepoofs
    I said I wasn’t joking

Next up he wants a Fryder so off we go to toss the Snax Trap over to catch it and return to Cromdo.

    Cromdo and Fryder
    I don’t even know what’s happening anymore

So, as you can see, Cromdo is becoming a carb combo as he sports cheese puff and fry limbs.

After we finish up the payment to the salesman we learn that he wants to change his feet into icicles so he can walk in the desert safely.

I don’t manage to get to the snowy area in this episode but I’m still working on it in my own time.

We end our tour of Scorched Gorge by finding a nice Desert Ruin Mural for a little backstory, the game is good at telling you the plot with the world.

    Desert Ruin Mural
I like that the world-building is part of the world

After taking a little nap, it is time to return to Snaxburg and wrap up this episode!

    Is Bugsnax’s Amazing?

Hunter Armada Giving Final Gameplay Thoughts on Bugsnax
Bugsnax is weird, like really weird but damn if it isn’t a solid puzzle game

Bugsnax is a game that I didn’t put any thought into until it became free with PlayStation Plus.

But I’m so glad I gave it a shot to experience the world and try to figure out just what the heck is going on.

It is a solid puzzle game without too much flair and it doesn’t use anything with the PlayStation 5.

It looks great, plays satisfyingly smooth, and is challenging without being overbearing.

I’ve enjoyed my time with it, and if you give it a shot, I think you will too!
