Titanfall 2 Bounty Hunting Is a Special Mode

Titanfall 2 has a lot of game modes; Attrition, Mixtape, Amped Hardpoint, Last Pilot Standing, Pilots Vs. Pilots, Coliseum, etc. After playing through a number of them in the last episode I have to say the most fun one in my personal opinion is Bounty Hunt. It manages to make fighting the opposing team take strategy and it becomes who can cause more damage first. In this episode, I take on a Bounty Hunt game that may not get too intense but still manages to be tons of fun.

For the battle hardened

The commander always knows how to hype you up before the match

Luckily for this episode that was oddly absent in the first recording is me and my team jumping into the battlefield. This is one of the coolest parts of Titanfall, you start the match jumping off a helicopter. It’s a really small thing but having the commander of your choice hype you up while looking at your fellow teammates is a harrowing start to a match. After a small speech and swig of a stiff drink, we jump feet first into hell. How every game hasn’t copied this or at least put their spin on it blows my mind.

Boomtown Is an Appropriately Named Map

On the map BoomTown, the first wave’s bounty always starts in the middle on the top of the bridge that gaps the town. A quick sprint over there, jumping through the window of the adjacent building allows a perfect vantage point. I don’t think the ninja star helped at all but gunning down specters and grunts allows me to accumulate some early points.  Thus giving me a Map Hack nice and early, this allows me and my team to see where all the enemy Pilots are.

Numbers going up when shooting a titan

Watching those numbers go up is just great!

Ninja Stars Always Get the Job Done

Getting gunned down doesn’t deter me as I jump up to the top of the nearest building, getting one kill but instantly dying again. This actually happens a couple of times and my money takes a big hit, still want to help by cashing in 20 bucks anyhow. I’ve never actually seen a player use a phase shift so it was surprising to me and I had no counter. Getting a quick kill after I spawn allows me to call my first Titanfall of the match as well as the first for my team. Legion and I are determined to take out the bounty Titan that dropped codenamed “Keen”.  Unloading my whole clip doesn’t help but man seeing all those numbers fly upward is rewarding.

Throwing the perfect ninja star at a titan

Throwing that perfect ninja star right in an unsuspecting Titans face

Unfortunately, I get double-teamed by the bounty Titan and an enemy which means I don’t last very long and don’t have time to eject.  But it works out as I spawn close to a Bank to deposit the little amount of money I have. First I ninja star a Titan in the face, which is super cool. Get off a few Thunderbolt shots on some enemies before I get killed again. Spawning on the middle bridge allows me to make some quick gains to my Titanfall and I call it in post-haste. Pulling a 1080 degree turn I proceed to run near the fresh batch of grunts that just dropped in.

Crunch, Crunch, Crunch

Crunching a bunch of bots in a titan

Crunch, Crunch, Crunch

Running them down in my giant Titan is its reward. Rinse and repeat until everyone is dead and the banks are opened once again. This allows me to Bank about 400 dollars, which makes my team’s lead even bigger. Right back to the Titan and across the bridge to the enemy. Pop the Smart Core ability; hurling a ton of bullets into an enemy Titan and causing them to nuclear eject. Run out the blast radius, activate the electric smoke, grab the battery at my feet and mercilessly unload a full clip into a new enemy Titan.  Unsurprisingly I don’t survive that.

Shooting a gatling gun at titans

Right about here I knew I wasn’t going to last much longer

Foxtrot Meet Thunderbolt, Thunderbolt Meet Foxtrot

Turning my attention to the new Bounty Titan “FoxTrot” I can make some easy money.  Mixing the Thunderbolt and the ninja star is a stellar matchup. Spawning with my Titanfall allows me the defense to cash what little I have after dying so many times in a row. Gunning down a Titan, nuclear ejecting is all well and good but missing the drop onto the third was real ruff. It could have been an awesome trifecta yet I blew it.

Blowing up a Titan

Like lighting a candle

There’s No Escape for Failure

Focusing on the grunts to gather another Titanfall does not work well for me. Dropping the Titan right into the middle of battle causes my shield and health to vanish at an accelerated rate. Then the enemy Titan places the Gatling gun in my chest and blows me to pieces. Thankfully we have a fairly big lead on the enemy and are able to walk across the finish line. Clearing up the runners and destroying their escape is all business, I swear. All in all super fun match; got a level up and some new banners/weapon skins.

Escape was never an option

Escape is not an option
